Lorenzo Zambrano

Lorenzo ZambranoLorenzo H. Zambrano earned a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM) and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. He joined CEMEX in 1968. He was named chief executive officer in 1985 and has served as chairman of the board since 1995. CEMEX is one of the world's largest global building solutions companies; its stock is traded on the Mexican Stock Exchange (CEMEX CPO) and listed on the New York Stock Exchange (CX). Mr. Zambrano is a member of the IBM Board of Directors, the Citigroup International Advisory Board, and the boards of several leading Mexican companies, including Alfa, Grupo Financiero Banamex, Femsa, Televisa and Vitro. He is also chairman of the board of the Tecnologico de Monterrey, the leading private university in Mexico and Latin America, and serves on the board of the Monterrey Contemporary Art Museum. Mr. Zambrano has earned a number of prestigious honors such as the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship, the Americas Society's Gold Medal for Distinguished Service, and the Ernest C. Arbuckle Award for Managerial Excellence from the Stanford Graduate Business School's Alumni Association. He is the North American deputy chairman of the Trilateral Commission and chairman of its Mexican Group.
