Otto Graf Lambsdorff

Otto Graf Lambsdorff, Honorary European Chairman of the Trilateral Commission, is a Partner at the law firm Wessing Lawyers in Düsseldorf. He was Member of the German Bundestag from 1972 to 1998 and was Minister of the Economy of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1977-84. He is Honorary Chairman of the Free Democratic Party, from which he has been a Member since 1951. Count Lambsdorff is currently Chairman of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. He was President of the Liberal International (1992-94). A lawyer by training, he has been active in banking and insurance since 1955. In 1972, he became a Member of the Board of Management of Victoria Versicherung, a group of insurance companies in Germany. He has served on the Steering Committee of the Free Democratic Party since 1983 and became its Chairman in 1988. He continued to represent the FDP as its Chief Economic Spokesman up to 1997 and is member of the board of numerous companies and served on UNHCR's Informal Advisory Group of Sadako Ogata between 1994-2000. Count Lambsdorff was European Chairman of the Trilateral Commission from October 1991 until March 2001.
