Shijuro Ogata is a former deputy governor for international relations of the Bank of Japan. He was educated at the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo, and the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy. From 1986-91, he was deputy governor of the Japan Development Bank.
He is the author of International Financial Integration: The Policy Challenges (with Richard N. Cooper and Horst Schulmann, The Trilateral Commission, 1989) and several books and articles. He has also been the deputy Japanese (now Pacific Asia) chairman of The Trilateral Commission since 1993.
