Ana Laura Magaloni Kerpel

Ana Laura Magaloni Kerpel is a recognized academic, a pioneer in Mexico of empirical studies into judicial institutions, with particular emphasis on criminal prosecution agencies, the juicio de amparo procedure and the Supreme Court. She has a degree in Law from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and a PhD in Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain. Magaloni has dedicated her professional life to studying the workings of justice in Mexico and to developing and promoting initiatives to strengthen its institutions. Since 2018 she has been the Chair of the Technical Commission for the Transition at the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City. Her contributions include her emphasis on the need to take into account the social and political contexts in which these institutions operate, as well as her vision of the role of justice in the pacification of conflicts through reason and dialogue.
