Carlos Heredia

Carlos Heredia, PhD, is a researcher at the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics in Mexico City (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, CIDE).  He is an economist with extensive experience in international relations, and a former member of the Chamber of Deputies in Mexico’s 57th Congress. Heredia has worked for over 30 years with Mexican, U.S., and Canadian development NGOs on various issues related to international trade, multilateral banking, and immigration.  He is the co-coordinator of the ‘Jóvenes Promesas’ project for international cooperation on education, that invites students under threat of violence in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to do their technical high school diploma in Mexico. He writes a fortnightly article for El Universal, and is a frequent commentator in the Mexican media.
