Chen Naiqing

Chen Naiqing is former Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), and was Ambassador to Norway in 2003–07 and Ambassador for Korean Peninsula Affairs in 2007–08. Ambassador Chen served as Minister Counselor at the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations in 2008–09 and Minister Counselor, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States in 2009–12. She studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1975–76. She was a staff member, then Attaché at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Kingdom (1975–82); Third Secretary, Department of Translation and Interpretation (1982–86); Second Secretary, West European Department (1986–88); Second Secretary, then First Secretary, Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations (1988–92); First Secretary, Director, then Counselor, Department of Research and Policy Planning (1992–95); and Deputy Director-General, Department of Research and Policy Planning (1996–2003).
