Eli Leenaars is Group Chief Operating Officer of Quintet Private Bank in Luxembourg since June 2021. Since January 2021 he is Chairman of Mollie and Mollie Holding in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Since January 2019 he is also Board Member of Capital One Financial Corporation in McLean (VA, USA). He was Vice-Chairman of Global Wealth Management at UBS AG in Zürich, Switzerland between April 2015 and May 2021. Prior to UBS he served as Chief Executive Officer of ING Retail Banking Direct & International in Amsterdam from 1 January 2010 until January 2015. Prior Mr. Leenaars was a member of the Executive Board of ING Group from April 2004. He began his career with ING Bank in 1991 and held various management positions, including chairman of ING Poland (1997-1999), Chairman and CEO ING Latin America (1999-2002) and Chairman ING Central Europe (2003-2004). Eli Leenaars was also Deputy Chairman Supervisory Board ING Bank Slaski SA, Poland, Member Supervisory Board ING DiBA AG, Germany, Chairman of the Board ING Direct Bancorp, USA, Member of the Board ING Bank, FSB, USA. Eli Leenaars graduated with a Master’s Degree in law from the Catholic University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands and an LL.M from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He also completed a programme for management development at Harvard Business School in Boston, USA. He was Member & Treasurer of the Confederation of Netherlands Industry and Employers, known as “VNO-NCW”, Member & Treasurer of the Board of the Carnegie Foundation The Hague, Member Foundation Funding Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, Member of the Board Foundation VU University Medical Center, Cancer Center and Member Recommending Committee Alzheimer Center, VU University, Amsterdam. Currently he is Member of the Supervisory Board of the Royal Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. Eli Leenaars is former European Treasurer of the Trilateral Commission.
