Hitoshi Ito is Vice President and Executive Officer, Government and External Relations of Hitachi, Ltd. He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a B.A. in economics in 1978, and joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (currently the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). In 2018, he became Executive Advisor to the CEO of Hitachi, Ltd. Mr. Ito has also served as Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (2014–16), Director-General of the Reconstruction Agency (2013–14), and Councillor of the Cabinet Secretariat (2011–13).
