Jacobo Roa-Vicens is a Spanish investment banker and data scientist. He is currently focused on artificial intelligence research applied to financial markets, as Executive Director at the Machine Learning Centre of Excellence at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. He previously covered global macro systematic trading strategies at JPMorgan, and sovereign debt and interest rates derivatives at Morgan Stanley. Meanwhile, Jacobo conducts research in applied artificial intelligence at University College London, where he currently focuses on developing new models of statistical machine learning, and serves as Industry Associate at the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies. His research has been presented in leading international conferences (ICML, NeurIPS). He earned his degree of Electrical Engineer at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), a MSc in Management from HEC Paris (Diplôme Grande École) and a MA in Economics from the Collège d’Europe in Belgium, in addition to courses at École Polytechnique in France and Harvard University in the US. Jacobo has received excellence awards and scholarships from the Lucent Technologies Foundation and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others. He has a deep interest in international economics, technology and public affairs, and previously served as member of the National Scholar Council of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, advising on legislation. A passionate scuba diver, he qualified as a professional diving instructor.
