Jean-Louis Bourlanges was Member of the State Audit Court (Cour des Comptes) in Paris from 2007 until 2013. He is likewise Associated Professor at the Institute for Political Studies in Paris. He was Member of the European Parliament in Brussels since he was first elected in 1989, until 2007. He was Member of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and Chairman of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs; Member of the Conference of Committee Chairmen; Subsitute of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs; Member of the Delegation for relations with the Gulf States, including Yemen and is a Substitute of the Delegation for relations with the United States. Mr. Jean-Louis Bourlanges is a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (1969). From 1966 to 1968, he worked for the weekly newspapers Notre République. In 1968, he became Member of the National Council of UDR. In 1972, he obtained the highest postgraduate teaching qualification in language and literature. In 1973-1974, he was Professor Associate at the John Hopkins University at the Bologna Center. Graduating from ENA (National College of Administration) in 1979, he was named Auditor, then Commissioner of Audit at the State Audit Court (1979-1989). He was a Member of Dieppe Municipal Council (1983-1989) and Member of Haute-Normandie Regional Council (1986-1998). He is the author of “Droite, année Zéro” (1988), Le rendez-vous manqué de la Rénovation (1990) and “Le Diable est-il européen?” (1992).
