Merja Ylä-Anttila is the CEO of Yleisradio and has been a member of Yle’s management group since the autumn of 2018. Ylä-Anttila has a long career in journalism. Before joining Yle, she held various positions at Finnish broadcaster MTV3, starting in 1984. She was head of news and current affairs programmes at MTV3 since 2001, and the CEO of Mediahub Helsinki Oy since 2015. Merja Ylä-Anttila studied communications, political science and political history at the University of Helsinki. She is chair of the Advisory Board of Suomen Mentorit. Yle (founded in 1926) is a media company owned by the Finns and funded by a special Yle tax. Its operations are guided by the Act on Yleisradio Oy and by its internal directives and guidelines. Yle operates four television channels, six radio channels and three radio services. Yle Areena, yle.fi and svenska.yle.fi provide a broad and diverse range of online content. Yle has 18 Finnish-language regional broadcasting offices, five Swedish-language regional broadcasting offices and one Sami-language regional broadcasting office. Yle creates and produces content in twelve languages.
