Diplomat and former Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs; former Member of the Austrian Parliament, Vienna

Ursula Plassnik currently teaches Applied Diplomacy at Sciences Po (Paris School of International Affairs). She is a diplomat, former Austrian foreign minister of Austria (2004-2008) and a former member of the Austrian parliament (2008-2011). A lawyer by formation (Doctor iuris, University of Vienna, post-graduate diploma College of Europe, Bruges), Ursula Plassnik served as the Austrian Ambassador to Switzerland until June 2021, after having served as the Austrian Ambassador to France from 2011 to Mid-2016. She has been a member of the Austrian Diplomatic Service for 40 years and participated in numerous multilateral and bilateral negotiations. During Austria’s EU presidency in 2006, she chaired the EU-Council of Foreign ministers. As chief of staff of the Austrian Prime Minister, she coordinated government, parliamentary and private sector work. Specific areas of interest: European integration, crisis management, leadership, women in international relations. Ursula Plassnik is the head of the Austrian Delegation to the Trilateral Commission
