Yves-Louis Darricarrère
Yves-Louis Darricarrère is Senior Advisor for Lazard Frères Bank and Senior Lecturer in Energy Geopolitics at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. He is former Member of the Executive Committee of Total and former CEO of Total Upstream, Total Exploration and Production and Total Gas and Power. He was chairman of the Total’s Corporate Foundation from January 2015 to December 2018. After lecturing at the École des Mines de Paris for 3 years, Yves-Louis Darricarrère joined Elf Aquitaine in 1978, first in the Mining Division in Australia and later in the Oil & Gas Division, where he was successively appointed as Managing Director of the subsidiaries in Egypt and then in Colombia, Director of Business development and new ventures, then Finance Director of the Oil and Gas business (Upstream and Downstream). In 1998, he was appointed as Deputy Director-General of Elf Exploration-Production with responsibility for Europe and the United States and was appointed as a member of the Management Committee of Elf-Aquitaine. In 2000, after the merger between Total, Elf and Petrofina, he was appointed as Senior Vice-President for Exploration & Production for Northern Europe and became a member of the Total Group Management Committee. On 1st September 2003, Yves-Louis Darricarrère was appointed to the Group’s Executive Committee and the same day, was appointed as President of Total Gas & Power. On 14th February 2007, he succeeded Christophe de Margerie as President of Total Exploration & Production. On 1st July 2012, he became President of Total Upstream, an entity created to comprise Total Exploration & Production and Total Gas & Power. On July 31st 2015, Yves-Louis Darricarrère stepped down from his position on the Executive Committee of Total and from his position as CEO of Total Upstream. In January 2015, Yves-Louis Darricarrère was appointed as Chairman of the board of Total’s Corporate Foundation. Since 2015, he has been a Senior lecturer in Energy Geopolitics at the “Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris”. As from October 1st, 2015 he has also been a Senior Advisor at Lazard Frères Bank. He is chairman of the Board of NHV (a Belgium Helicopter service company), independent director of ORTEC (an industry services company) and CIS (Catering International Services).Yves-Louis Darricarrère is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines and the Institut d’Études Politiques in Paris and holds a Master’s degree in economic science. He is a chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight of the French Legion of Honour).
